Renovation has commenced on the University of Liberia (UL) main campus, with initial activities beginning at the Business College Building and the Graduate School Building. The renovation forms part of a broader effort to improve infrastructure across the country’s flagship public university. The Government of Liberia has allocated an additional US$6 million to support rehabilitation works across several UL campuses.
The campuses expected to benefit include the Capitol Hill Campus, Fendall Campus, A.M. Dogliotti College of Medicine Campus, and the David A. Straz-Sinje Campus in Sinje, Grand Cape Mount County.
The investment is expected to address deteriorating facilities and improve the learning and working environment for students, faculty and staff. The initiative comes amid longstanding concerns over the physical condition of several university facilities and repeated calls for major rehabilitation.
Attention will now turn to the scope, quality and pace of the renovation works, as well as how quickly the improvements translate into better academic conditions across the university system.
