Chinese Ambassador to Liberia Yin Chengwu has called on Liberian journalists to play a greater role in fostering mutual understanding between China and Liberia through what he described as objective, professional, and balanced reporting on China’s development and bilateral relations.

He made the statement during the 7th Induction Ceremony of the Reporters Association of Liberia (RAL). Ambassador Yin congratulated the association’s newly elected leadership while reaffirming China’s commitment to strengthening engagement with Liberia’s media community.

He spoke on the theme, “Shaping the Future of Liberian Journalism Through Inclusion, Welfare and Reform.” The ambassador praised the RAL for its longstanding contributions to press freedom and the advancement of professional journalism in Liberia.

Ambassador Yin paid tribute to Liberian journalists for helping present China’s development and the growing China-Liberia partnership to the Liberian public, describing the media as an important bridge between the peoples of both nations.

Reflecting on a media seminar held in China last year for several Liberian journalists including RAL President-elect J.H. Webster Clayeh, Secretary-General-elect Blamo N. Toe, and Financial Secretary-elect Cynthia Quinisier, the ambassador said many participants returned with a new appreciation of China’s transformation after witnessing the country’s development firsthand.

According to Ambassador Yin, many of the journalists remarked that China was significantly different from what they had expected and sought to understand the driving force behind its rapid economic and social progress. He attributed that success to the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Marking the 105th anniversary of the CPC, Ambassador Yin outlined five key principles he said have shaped China’s development: unwavering commitment to serving the people, resilience in overcoming challenges, continuous self-reform and anti-corruption efforts, independence and self-reliance, and a global vision focused on peace and shared development.

He noted that under the CPC’s leadership, China has become the world’s second-largest economy, established extensive education, healthcare, and social security systems, and lifted more than 800 million people out of poverty.

The ambassador also highlighted the CPC’s emphasis on internal discipline, describing its zero-tolerance approach to corruption as a key factor in maintaining the Party’s effectiveness and public confidence.

Emphasizing China’s independent development path, Ambassador Yin said the country’s governance model reflects its unique history, culture, and national circumstances while positioning China as an active contributor to global peace, international development, and multilateral cooperation.

He encouraged Liberian journalists to continue visiting China, witnessing its ongoing transformation firsthand, and reporting on the country with professionalism, objectivity, and fairness to help strengthen understanding and friendship between the Chinese and Liberian peoples.

Concluding, Ambassador Yin wished the newly inducted leadership of the Reporters Association of Liberia success in guiding the country’s journalism profession into a new era of inclusion, reform, and professional excellence.
