Concerned partisans of the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR), along with citizens of Nimba County, have strongly condemned Liberia National Police (LNP) Inspector General Gregory Coleman over comments he made about Nimba County Senator Samuel Kogar during a recent Senate hearing on the country’s cocaine investigation.
During the hearing, Inspector General Coleman described Senator Kogar as a “loose talker” after the senator called on President Joseph Boakai to suspend heads of security institutions leading the investigation, citing what he described as delays in the probe.
In a statement issued Sunday, the group described the Inspector General’s remarks as disrespectful, unprofessional, and an affront to both Senator Kogar and the Liberian Senate.
The group called on President Boakai and Senate Pro Tempore Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence to immediately investigate the matter and consider disciplinary action, including suspension or dismissal of Inspector General Coleman if wrongdoing is established. The statement further urged the Senate to defend the dignity of its members and reaffirmed the group’s support for Senator Kogar and the people of Nimba County.
