The Liberian Senate has donated an amount of US$15,000 (Fifteen Thousand United States Dollars) to the Nyonblee Cares Foundation during a fundraising program held Friday, July 3, 2026, in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

The event also marked the 15th anniversary of the foundation founded by Senate President Pro Tempore Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence.

Senate President Pro Tempore Emeritus Albert T. Chie, who served as Guest of Honor, announced the Senate’s contribution of US$15,000 and presented an additional US$5,000 as a personal donation.

“This contribution from the Liberian Senate is not just a financial donation. It is a statement of solidarity with the work of the Nyonblee Cares Foundation and its dedication to uplifting the lives of our people,” Senator Chie said.

He also lauded the people of Grand Bassa for producing “a very strong, hardworking and respectful Senator” in Senator Karnga-Lawrence.

Speaking at the program, Senator Karnga-Lawrence said July 2 was her birthday and the foundation’s 15th anniversary was on July 3. She noted that the organization was established before she entered the Senate.

“Every year I try to make my birthday meaningful by doing something that will impact the lives of others. This year we decided to have this fundraiser for the NYONBLEE Cares Foundation,” she said.

The Pro Tempore outlined key programs being run by the foundation over the last 15 years: some of the programs include a mobile clinic launched in 2011, which has treated over 30,000 people in inaccessible communities; speed school–started in 2017 to support out-of-school children; surgical outreach–begun three years ago, has provided free surgery to over 500 patients. The next outreach is scheduled for River Cess County next week; the STEM Education/Robotics Program–introduced in 2016- has trained students to build robots. Eight Liberian students have represented Africa in international robotics competitions.

Senator Karnga-Lawrence said the foundation’s work has extended to Rivercess, Margibi, Montserrado, and Grand Bassa counties. She pledged to ensure all funds are used transparently. President Joseph N. Boakai also donated an amount of US$10,000 for the event. Other individuals, institutions, and groups made meaningful contributions.

The program brought together lawmakers, representatives from the Office of the First Lady, local officials, civil society actors, and community members. Organizers thanked the Senate and other donors and called on more government officials and partners to support the foundation’s ongoing projects.
