A baby boy, believed to be about 12 months old, was found abandoned in a bush in the Bellequelleh Clan, Gbarnga, at around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
According to local sources, a passerby heard the child crying while walking along the road. He alerted the community youth chairman, who then reported the incident to the Liberia National Police in Gbarnga. The child, who was found alive, was taken to the Women and Children Protection Section by the town chief and a member of the community watch forum.
The Liberia National Police has launched an investigation into the matter to determine the circumstances surrounding the abandonment and to identify the child’s parents or guardians.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Gbarnga Police Station.
