Yellow-Machines-Deployment-To-Create-Over-500-Jobs

The head of the Special Presidential Project Coordinating Committee (SPPCC), J. Brownie Samukai has disclosed that the government’s ongoing deployment of yellow machines across Liberia is expected to create over 500 direct employment opportunities for Liberians.

Speaking Thursday August 20,2026 at the Ministry of Information regular press briefing, Mr. Samukai said the government has so far received a significant number of earthmoving equipment as part of its nationwide infrastructure development initiative, with additional machines expected to arrive in the coming weeks.

According to him, the equipment is being deployed in accordance with a structured plan designed to ensure that counties receive the machinery needed to undertake road construction, rehabilitation and other public works.

He further noted that the government is establishing equipment hubs across the country to facilitate the storage, maintenance and deployment of the machines. Samukai further disclosed that all 15 counties will have an equipment hub, while some counties will receive additional hubs because of their geographical size and operational requirements.

The SPPCC coordinator said the government is also providing fuel and other logistical support to ensure that the equipment remains operational once deployed. He noted that the deployment schedule is dependent on the completion of the equipment hubs and related facilities, adding that government is working to accelerate construction so that the machines can be put into full operation.

Samukai further disclosed that the government has begun recruiting Liberians to operate and maintain the equipment, emphasizing that priority will be given to qualified Liberians residing in the counties where the machines will be deployed.

He cautioned politicians and other individuals against recommending unqualified persons for equipment operator positions, stressing that the recruitment process will be based on skills, competence and willingness to work. “We are not importing workers unless absolutely necessary,” Samukai said, emphasizing that the government’s intention is to localize employment opportunities.

He further noted that the recruitment exercise is expected to create opportunities for equipment operators, mechanics, drivers, technicians and other support personnel. He also disclosed that the government is establishing a logistics and monitoring system to track the location, operational status and maintenance schedules of the machines.

According to him, the system will help authorities determine whether equipment is operating as assigned and prevent unauthorized use or movement of the machines. Samukai added that the government is also considering contracting qualified private companies to provide technical and maintenance services for the equipment with several companies already being considered.

Mr. Samukai said deployment exercises will continue in several counties in the coming days, with teams expected to move equipment to counties where hubs and supporting facilities are ready. He explained that the deployment will be carried out simultaneously with the ongoing construction and completion of equipment hubs.

He also lauded the government for providing the financial resources necessary to implement the project and said the ultimate objective is to ensure that the equipment contributes meaningfully to road construction, employment creation and Liberia’s broader infrastructure development agenda. He further urged qualified Liberians across the country to take advantage of the employment opportunities expected to emerge as the yellow machines become fully operational.
