The Acting Chairperson of the National Elections Commission of Liberia (NEC), Mr. Jonathan Weedor, has welcomed a delegation from UN Women Liberia during a courtesy visit aimed at reaffirming the organization’s commitment to supporting the Commission through the Liberia Electoral Support Project (LESP).
The delegation comprised Mr. Yemi Falayajo, Deputy Representative of UN Women Liberia, and Ms. Tsega Gebremeskel Meles, Programme Specialist at UN Women Liberia.
During the meeting, the UN Women representatives briefed the Acting Chairperson on the institution’s ongoing activities and support being provided to the Commission under the LESP framework.
They also reaffirmed UN Women’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the NEC and supporting efforts aimed at promoting inclusive, credible, and democratic electoral processes in Liberia.
In response, the Acting Chairperson welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for the valuable contributions UN Women continues to make through the Liberia Electoral Support Project. He further emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration and expressed optimism about maintaining and strengthening the longstanding partnership between the both institutions.
Attended by Commissioner Josephine Kou Gaye, the meeting underscored the shared commitment to advancing democratic governance, women’s participation, and electoral development in Liberia.
