The African Methodist Episcopal Zion University (AMEZU) on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, held its 34th Commencement Convocation in Vincent Town, Bomi County with the kenote speaker urging the graduates to “Never settle for less.” The ceremony marked by joy and reflection, celebrated the academic achievements of students who have successfully completed their studies across diverse fields.
Serving as keynote speaker of the 34th Commencement convocation, Rev. Michael S. Bell, Elder of the Wilson District, Cape Fear Conference A.M.E. Zion Church, United States of America, told the graduates to embrace change and use the knowledge to positively impact their communities. “You have been empowered to empower others. Do not keep what you have learned to yourselves. Share your knowledge, transform your dreams into reality, and help others reach where you are today,” he said.
Rev. Bell encouraged the graduates to live in the present and focus on building a better future rather than dwelling on the past. “Do not live in your yesterday; live in your today, because you have a great responsibility to change others and make a difference.” He said true success is not just about personal achievement, but about contributing to the growth and transformation of others and society.
For his part, Rev. Emmanuel F. Johnson narrated that the enrollment for the last academic year started at a point of 1,650 students and ended with 1,450 due to the financial situation and economic meltdown in the Global Village. During the ceremony, Rev. Johnson announced partnership with Book for Africa and said the school will receive 40,000 books to upgrade its library in early December.
“We are reintroducing computer programs at the Honor Graduate School for the next academic semester and the introduction of computer programs at the graduate school. We are also expanding our education and cyber security program,” he added.
