The Ministry of Education, Republic of Liberia, has announced the successful conclusion of a nationwide, three-week headcount exercise targeting all Government of Liberia (GoL) local scholarship beneficiaries.
This vital initiative—executed across 16 colleges and universities in five counties—was spearheaded by the Ministry’s Scholarship Division to enhance transparency, strengthen accountability, and ensure data accuracy within the national scholarship framework.
The headcount covered the following academic institutions: Montserrado County: Starz University, A.M.E University, A.M.E. Zion University, Cuttington University Graduate School, Smythe University College, United Methodist University, Salvation Army Polytechnic, Carver Christian University, Censil University College;
- Margibi County: Cuttington Junior College, Seventh Day Adventist University
- Bong County: Cuttington University, Sumo Moye Memorial Technical College
- Nimba County: Liberia International Christian College (Ganta)
- Lofa County: Free Pentecostal University (Voinjama), and Esther Bacon College of Health Sciences (Zorzor).
The objectives of the exercise were threefold: Promote transparency and accountability in scholarship disbursement;
Establish an accurate and up-to-date database of all current beneficiaries; and Inform future policy and planning decisions in support of national educational priorities. The Ministry commends the full cooperation of all participating institutions, stakeholders, and student beneficiaries whose collaboration ensured the exercise’s success.
This milestone reaffirms the government’s commitment to building a transparent, data-driven, and equitable education system that efficiently serves Liberia’s youth, an April 30, 2025 released stated.
