Liberia’s Deputy Minister for International Cooperation and Economic Integration at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Bakri Nyei, has accomplished several missions, including signing diplomatic agreements on behalf of the Government of Liberia.
In a statement posted on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, Dr. Nyei noted, “On behalf of Her Excellency Sara Beysolow Nyanti, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Liberia, I accomplished the following missions today (July 27, 2026) on the margins of the 49th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.”
Among agreements signed by the Deputy Foreign Minister are the Statute of the African Mineral Development Center, making Liberia the 14th country to sign. He also held a meeting with the Vice Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Her Excellency Amb. Selma Malika Haddadi.
According to Dr. Nyei, their meeting focused on Liberia-AU cooperation, issues of regional integration and the state of implementation of Agenda 2063.
Dr. Nyei also attended the AU Ministerial Committee on African Candidatures within the International System (C15). Liberia is a member of this 15-member committee. Deputy Minister Nyei further disclosed that on July 27, 2026, they approved several member state candidatures for various international roles, including endorsements for UNSC membership in the coming years.
“I ended the day with a dinner with Aunty Joyce Mends-Cole and HE Nangolo Mbumba, former President of the Republic of Namibia. And yes, I still found time in between to do that other thing that was trending,” Dr. Nyei, among other things, concluded.
