Criminal Court “C” at the Temple of Justice has commenced an investigation into allegations of jury tampering and misconduct involving three jurors in the ongoing high-profile corruption trial of several former government officials.
The proceedings began on Monday, June 15, 2026, before Judge Ousman F. Feika, Resident Circuit Judge of Criminal Court “C,” following concerns raised by jurors regarding alleged attempts to influence the outcome of the case.
The corruption case involves former senior government officials, including former Minister of Finance and Development Planning Samuel D. Tweah, former Acting Minister of Justice Cllr. Nyenati Tuan, former Director of the Financial Intelligence Agency Stanley S. Ford, former FIA Comptroller D. Moses P. Cooper, and former National Security Advisor Jefferson Karmoh. Prior to the commencement of the investigation, Judge Feika issued a Notice of Assignment on June 10, 2026, directing all parties and their legal representatives to appear before the court.
According to the notice, the parties were instructed to appear before the First Judicial Circuit, Criminal Assizes “C” for Montserrado County, sitting in its May Term, A.D. 2026, at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia at 10:00 a.m. on June 15.
The jury tampering allegations have attracted significant public attention due to the high-profile nature of the corruption case and concerns about preserving the integrity of Liberia’s judicial process. The latest investigation follows a ruling by Associate Justice Yussif D. Kaba of the Supreme Court of Liberia, who, while presiding in Chambers on May 28, 2026, ordered a fresh probe into the allegations of jury misconduct.
Justice Kaba’s decision came in response to a petition for a writ of prohibition filed by Samuel D. Tweah and his co-defendants. The petition challenged Judge Feika’s authority to investigate sworn allegations of jury tampering, arguing that the inquiry could affect the fairness of the trial. However, the Supreme Court Justice deemed it necessary for the allegations to be fully investigated in order to safeguard the credibility and integrity of the judicial proceedings.
The outcome of the investigation is expected to determine whether any improper influence was exerted on jurors and what impact, if any, the allegations may have on the continuation of the corruption trial.
