Latest reports circulating in the public circle has disclosed that there is a conspiracy by Police the Inspector General of the Liberia National Police, Gregory O.W. Coleman to shield Mr. Johnny Bolar Dean, former Commissioner of Police for Criminal Investigation, Intelligence and INTERPOL from the suspected ongoing drugs investigation.
On July͏ ͏2͏3, 2026, Police Inspector General Coleman said on live TV that a most senior Police officer in person of Mr. Johnny Bolar Dean (unit 106) has been compromised by collecting $US10,000 to provide comfort for drug suspects and was turned over to the Professional Standards Division for investigation. On July 30, President Boakai dismissed with immediate effect, Mr. Mark Egon Kuiah, Deputy Director for Operations at the Roberts International Airport (RIA), Mr. Johnny Bolar Dean, Commissioner of Police for Criminal Investigation, Intelligence and INTERPOL, and Mr. Patrick Doe, Deputy Director for Administration at the National Security Agency (NSA), from their respective positions.
But surprisingly and to the disbelief of many Liberians, on Wednesday August 19, 2026, Col. Coleman was heard saying that the Police has its own administrative instruction and administrative regulation, process and procedure to deal with Police officers when they are accused of wrongdoings.
He furthered, “Whenever a police officer is caught in an act of wrongdoing, they have to first go through administrative proceeding before they are turned over if criminality is established. IG Coleman said, Mr. Johnny Bolar Dean, like every other Police officer who were involve in wrongdoings were forwarded to the Professional Standards Division which is by law and the Professional Standards Division has concluded their investigations and they are subsequently turned over to the Crimes Service Division where investigation continues.
Also Speaking on those who were dismissed by the president, the Police Inspector General Gregory stated that the President has the prerogative to hire and fired weather investigated, guilty or not, there is a presidential prerogative to hire and fired.
IG Coleman said those that were in the category to be investigated criminally will be investigated and those in the category to be ethically dealt with will be investigated once the committee is established.
Col. Coleman failed to tell the public whether Anthony T. Blaye and Wadell W. Kwarbo were investigated by the Professional Standard Division and found guilty and turned over to the Crime Service Division for investigation but single out Jonny Dean.
At the same time, some critics are calling on the President Joseph Nyuma Boakai to suspend or relieve Police Inspector General Coleman of command because he has a very close ties with Mr. Johnny Bolar Dean and also contradicting the President’s mandates of dismissal.
Critics say all other Police officers who were dismissed or relive of command or recalled have been subjected to jail or close confinement despite the Police IG shielding Johnny Bolar Dean who has been dismissed following investigation conducted by the Professional Standard Division of the Liberia National Police.
