President Joseph N. Boakai has commended members of his administration, security forces, development partners, and other stakeholders for their contributions to Liberia’s development, urging them to remain focused on teamwork, discipline, and national service.
Speaking Thursday, August 13, 2026, during 23rd Cabinet meeting held at the Executive Mansion, President Boakai expressed appreciation for the sacrifices being made by ministers and other public officials, noting that their responsibilities often require significant personal and family sacrifices.
The Liberian leader at the same time, praised officials and stakeholders who contributed to the successful observance of Liberia’s Independence celebrations, particularly the county that hosted the national activities. President Boakai highlighted progress being made across several sectors, including healthcare, the timely payment of government salaries, road infrastructure, education, and social services.
He specifically commended Finance Minister Augustine K. Ngafuan and his team for their work and urged members of government not to become discouraged by criticism. He stressed that no individual can transform Liberia alone, emphasizing that teamwork remains essential to achieving the objectives of his administration. “Teamwork is very important,” President Boakai said, while encouraging ministers and government officials to remain committed to their responsibilities despite public criticism.
The President also called on cabinet ministers to attend public functions whenever possible, saying their presence demonstrates support for government programs and achievements. Making vows to intensify anti-drug fight, Boakai reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and protecting Liberia from the growing threat posed by narcotics.
He said Liberia would continue working with neighboring countries and international partners to ensure that the country remains a safe and law-abiding nation. However, the President cautioned against allowing criticism or intimidation to derail government efforts, particularly those aimed at strengthening national security. “We’re not stopping, stressing that the government would continue doing what is necessary in the interest of the country,” he narrated.
Boakai also emphasized the importance of securing Liberia’s borders and strengthening coordination among security agencies operating along the country’s borders. According to President Boakai, security personnel are trained and disciplined to understand their responsibilities, adding that government officials must rely on their expertise rather than make decisions based solely on public pressure.
Meanwhile, Boakai has urged public officials to perform their duties with honesty, discipline, and a clear mind, while acknowledging that individuals who violate established standards would face appropriate measures. He said the government must avoid condemning everyone working within the administration because effective governance requires competent people working together.
Speaking, Boakai highlighted the importance of development assistance and donations received from partners, noting that clothing, shoes, educational materials, and other essential items have been distributed to vulnerable populations, including schoolchildren. He said the government must properly document and report the impact of such assistance on national development and ensure that donated resources reach the intended beneficiaries.
