The Liberian House of Representatives officially endorsed a Comprehensive Financial Manual during its 19th day sitting of the 1st Quarter of the 3rd Session, marking a significant step toward strengthening financial governance within the Legislature.
According to a release, the plenary decided following a detailed committee briefing delivered by Prince Koinah, Representative of Bong County District #1, on findings from a review and validation workshop organized by the House Internal Audit Department. He explained that the workshop focused on reviewing and validating a draft Comprehensive Financial Manual to guide the Internal Audit Department.
Representative Koinah noted that the manual is designed to strengthen financial governance through improved transparency, accountability, internal controls, and sound financial management practices within the House of Representatives. The report further indicated that the manual will support compliance with national public financial management laws and significantly enhance financial oversight.
With the endorsement of the Comprehensive Financial Manual, the House has set the stage for the formal launch and operationalization of its Internal Audit Department an important milestone in promoting fiscal discipline and institutional integrity within the Legislature. The House of Representatives reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the highest standards of accountability and transparency in the management of public resources.
