The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Liberia National Office has said all is set to commence the 2025 National Examinations for school candidates. The exams, poised to begin on Monday, April 28, 2025, are expected to last for one and a half months. Ahead of the exams, the Head of National Office (HNO) of WAEC Liberia, Dale Gbotoe, warned all candidates and school authorities against engaging in any form of examination malpractice before, during, or after the examinations. Mr. Gbotoe emphasized that WAEC, in collaboration with the Government of Liberia (GoL) through the Ministry of Justice, is fully prepared to prosecute anyone culpable of such acts.
At the same time, he appealed to the Ministry of Education and other educational stakeholders to join forces with WAEC to combat examination fraud during the upcoming examinations and in the future.
Additionally, WAEC Liberia urged all participants to conduct themselves responsibly throughout the examination process. Among other things, WAEC disclosed that the exams will kick off with the Liberia Junior High School Certificate Examination (LJHSCE) on Monday, April 28, and Tuesday, April 29, whereas a total of 53,562 ninth-grade students from junior high schools nationwide are registered to take the LJHSCE across 396 examination centers.
Following the LJHSCE, the Liberia Primary School Certificate Examination (LPSCE), WAEC stated, will be administered on Wednesday, April 30 and Thursday, May 1, 2025.
“This examination will see the participation of 47,008 sixth-grade pupils from primary schools across the country, writing at 397 centers,” Mr. Gbotoe stated. He pointed out that third-grade students will then take the Liberia National Assessment Test (LNAT) on Friday, May 2, 2025, noting that a total of 35,002 students are expected to participate in the LNAT, which will be conducted on their respective school campuses.
The WAEC boss revealed that the month-long examination exercises will end with the administering of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), commencing on Thursday, May 15, 2025, and concluding on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. He mentioned that a significant number of 53,140 twelfth-grade students from across Liberia are registered for the WASSCE, which will be held at 377 centers.
