“No Room For Corruption”.… Government Performance System Launched

No-Room-For-Corruption--Government-Performance-System-Launched

President Joseph N. Boakai has launched the Performance Management and Compliance System (PMCS) aimed at strengthening the governance framework through a structured approach to performance monitoring and compliance.

Speaking Wednesday, October 30, 2024 during the launch at the EJS Ministerial Complex in Congo Town, Boakai told government officials that there will be no room for corruption.

The Liberian leader said the PMCS is designed to prevent, detect and address inefficiency and wrongdoings at every level. According to him, it is a tool to ensure that those entrusted with the nation’s resources are working for the people and not for themselves.

He said the launch of the Performance Management and Compliance System signifies not just the introduction of a new system, but the strengthening of a major commitment- our dedication to delivering effective and accountable government for every Liberian citizen.

Boakai said that the PMCS will be a cornerstone of his government’s agenda, enabling the government to establish clear performance targets, monitor achievements, and enhance the services they provide.

“This is not only an internal tool, but a public commitment, a promise that we will govern with accountability, measure our success with transparency, and work continuously toward improvement,” he said.

President Boakai said this system is designed to benefit every Liberian; adding that by setting high standards for ministries, agencies, and commissions, and holding all officials accountable to those standards, “we are fostering a public sector that values results and prioritizes service.”

According to him, for too long the weight of unfulfilled promises, inefficiencies and corruption have hindered other progress of the country, but said the government has taken concrete action to break that cycle.

“With the PMCS, every public institution, every leader, and every entity will be required to demonstrate stewardship —not just for the work they do but for the outcomes they deliver,” he said.

Boakai said that the system also ensures that no one is above scrutiny, and no performance will go unmeasured, adding that the true impact of the PMCS will come through its sustained implementation and the collective commitment of every public servant, government office, and everyone who believes in the promise of a better Liberia.

President Boakai urged government officials, partners, public servants, and citizens to support the initiative, to embrace the principles of accountability and performance, and to hold the government to the high standards.
