The Liberia National Police (LNP) and National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) has released public safety hygiene measures for motorcyclists and passengers.
At a meeting between Police Inspector General Gregory O.W. Coleman and the Director General of NPHIL, Jane A. MaCauley over the weekend, they expressed health concerns of motorcyclists and their passengers.
Coleman and MaCauley have mandated all motorcyclists and passengers to adhere to hygiene measures for their personal safety.
A release signed by Police Spokesperson, Cecelia G. Clarke, indicated that Coleman and MaCauley instructed all motorcyclists to clean their helmets regularly (daily, weekly, or monthly) using disinfectant spray and should avoid placing their gloves inside the helmets.
According to LNP and NPHIL, all passengers riding motorcycle should cover their heads before wearing a helmet and wear a nose mask for additional protection.
“Passengers who frequently travel by motorcycle should consider carrying their own helmets and sanitizer spray,” the two public officials cautioned.
The Police and NPHIL chiefs are encouraging the public to remain law abiding, expressing their commitment to the safety of all residents and road users across Liberia.
