Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillon has condemned Sunday, December 29, 2024 mob violence that reportedly left one person dead and another severely wounded in the Paynesville area.
Senator Dillon in a Facebook post said the act perpetrated against the Liberians is barbaric, unfortunate and disheartening, and a disturbing incident of that nature should never be tolerated in the society.
“We spoke with the Justice Minister this morning and urged immediate actions to bring the perpetrators and perpetrators of other related crimes before the law,” Dillon said.
The Montserrado County senator said the Minister of Justice has assured that the Liberia National Police (LNP) is actively involved to ensure that those who orchestrated the brutality against the men be made to face the full weight of the law.
He said they as officials of government will remain engaged with the Ministry and the Police to ensure justice is properly served.
It can be recalled that on Sunday, a viral video surfaced on social media showing angry citizens using heavy objects to mob two men whom they claim were bike riders who had allegedly snatched the bag of a young lady.
Samba Jaleibah was the name written on an ID card found in the pocket of one of the mob victims after being brutally beaten and lying helpless.
