Liberia’s Second Lady, Madam Snyleseh Stephenie Dahn Koung, is currently in Casablanca, Morocco, to participate in the ongoing 2025 Women’s Summit. The landmark event aims to unite women leaders and change-makers from the Kingdom of Morocco, across the African continent, and spanning regions including Canada and the United States. It began on June 18, 2025, at the Hyatt Regency Casablanca.
As invited by the Startup Grow Foundation, Madam Dahn-Koung will serve as a guest speaker and panelist, engaging in vital conversations around innovation, sustainable development, and the economic empowerment of women.
Speaking with our reporter from Morocco, Raymond Zarbay, Senior Technical Assistant in the office of the Second Lady, disclosed that his boss (Madam Dahn Koung) and her team have actively been participating in strategic meetings and discussions aimed at enhancing collaboration and support.
According to him, the Liberian Second Lady also met with Madam Ghizlane Benjelloun at the National Observatory for the Rights of Children in Rabat, Morocco, where they discussed collaborative initiatives to promote the rights and safety of children in both Morocco and Liberia.
He narrated that the engagement focuses on ensuring the well-being of children with disabilities. The former Liberian Journalist told our reporter that Madam Dahn-Koung had a productive meeting with the Mayor of Casablanca, Nabila Rmili, to discuss strategies for empowering women, particularly those with disabilities, to make meaningful contributions to their societies in both Liberia and Morocco.
He said that the importance of the gathering resonates with the legacy of Liberia’s former President William R. Tolbert, who, motivated by his experiences in Asia, championed the cause of inclusivity and social justice by establishing the Group of 77 in 1977.
Zarbay stated that the national social welfare program focuses on supporting persons with disabilities and operates under the Vice President’s Office, traditionally led by the Vice President’s spouse or a designated representative.
The Senior Technical Assistant in the office of the Second Lady disclosed that the Women’s Summit 2025 promises to be a vital platform for exchanging ideas, fostering collaboration, and advocating for the social rights of women and children, setting the stage for impactful changes across nations.
The Startup Grow Foundation is an organization dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs and startups by offering resources, mentorship, and funding opportunities; its mission is to foster innovation and help new businesses thrive, particularly in underserved communities.
Zarbay added that the foundation may provide programs with workshops, networking events, and access to industry experts to guide entrepreneurs through the challenges of starting and growing their ventures.
