The Consortium of Rubber Sector Actors in Liberia (CORSAL) has praised the House of Representatives for the steps taken against the Executive Order #124 that banned the exportation of unprocessed rubber.
On Thursday, April 4, 2024 members of the House of Representatives voted unanimously requesting President Joseph Boakai to lift the Executive Order.
Speaking at a news conference recently, the group’s Chairman, James Sayekea described the decision by the House of Representatives as a milestone achievement that has engendered hope to the ordinary farmers in Liberia.
Sayekea used the occasion to remind President Boakai about the ARREST agenda that seeks to lift Liberians out of poverty; as such, he should not ignore the decision of the House.
According to Sayekea, the action by the House of Representatives shows that the people of Liberia are ably represented by 55th Legislature.
He said when the Legislature becomes an institution of trust; Liberia is bound to experience rapid development because the interest of the people is prioritized over personal interest.
The Chairman named Senators Albert Chie, Jonny Kpehe, Gberzorhgar Findley, and Joseph Jallah, among others, for their tireless efforts shown in the interest of lifting the ban.
Meanwhile, the group through it Chairperson disclosed that due to the action of the 55th Legislature, it has cancelled its planned protest.
