The Yarpah Town Magisterial Court has ordered the arrest of two prominent Liberian journalists, Eric Opa Duoe and Methuselah Gaye. According to a writ of arrest issued on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, the court alleges that on Monday, August 11, 2025, the two defendants published false, misleading, and unfounded information on social media (Facebook) and other platforms.
The publications accused the Yarpah Town Magisterial Court of accepting a bribe to illegally release a police officer identified as Ojuku Weeks, also known as “CO. Yarpah,” who had been arrested by the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) with narcotic substances and placed in custody.
The court described the action of the defendants as unlawful, wrongful, criminal, and intentional. They have been charged with criminal contempt of court, in violation of Section 12.6 of the Judicial Law of Liberia.
