A political pressure group calling itself “Green Revolution of Liberia (GRL)” has termed the short stay of a Guinean accused of mercenarism, Ibrahim Kalil Sheriff, as a threat to regional and national peace.

Addressing a press conference Tuesday, November 19, 2024 in Monrovia, Marja Varney G. Kromah, GRL’s National Chairperson also called on the Government of Liberia to investigate former Associate Justice Kabineh Ja’neh for treasonable act.

He said Ja’neh, being the defense counsel of the Guinean national, took to the media to accuse the government of killing the detained criminal defendant, which has placed the lives of the solicitor general and the inspector general of police in danger, claiming they ordered the defendant killed.

‘’Unfortunately, former Associate Justice Ja’neh and his group are bent on escalating this situation through dubious tactics instead of the law which has the propensity to strain or sever the diplomatic relationships between the two countries. If this is found to be true, this act should be considered treasonable and former Justice Ja’neh must be brought in for questioning. We call on the Government of Liberia with immediate effect to arrest and prosecute former Associate Justice Kabineh Ja’neh for such treasonable acts,” he said.

Kromah said Ja’neh is enraged by the arrest of his brother, a Guinean who has also been arrested by the Government of Liberia for alleged acts of treason.

“More besides, the Guinean Government has accused the Liberian Government of harboring a traitor who has been categorized as a threat to that country’s peace and stability, and that Liberia’s protection of such traitors is deemed dangerous,” Kromah said.

He said the Guinean government has accused the Liberian of invasion which is even more dangerous, the reason why the Government of Liberia has been treading legally, but expediently to resolve this case.
