In the early morning hours of May 6, 2024, an OK FM reporter was attacked by a group of individuals armed with cutlasses and other deadly weapons and took away the motorbike on which the journalist was riding on his way to work; but police officers on foot patrol responded promptly and retrieved the stolen bike, Spokesperson Cecelia Clarke disclosed.
Addressing a news conference shortly after the retrieval of the bike, Madam Clarke told reporters that the criminals absconded the scene with no arrest made.
She said the bike was in the Gardnersville vicinity. “Today, we come before you to report on a significant incident that occurred. We are pleased to announce that due to the swift and decisive actions of our officers, the motorbike has been successfully retrieved,” Clarke said.
Clarke noted that investigation is ongoing and the police remain committed to bringing the culprits to book.
According to her, the safety of every citizen, including members of the press remains the utmost importance to the Police.
“We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our community remains a safe place for all,” she added.
She is calling on the public to come forward with any information that may assist officers in arresting those involved.
