Over 200 Students Out Of School In Bong ..As Public School Ruined By Storm

Residents of Wanakpalah in Bong County are calling on the government, goodwill individuals and philanthropic organizations to help in the rehabilitation of the only elementary school in the town.

Wanakpalah is a village situated behind the former Public Works Compound on the Gbarnga-Lofa Highway.

According to the Principal Mr. Aaron F. Jiaway, the current condition of the school is a total embarrassment and setback for school going kids in the town.

He said the school was unroofed about a week ago after a violent windstorm swept through the area and damaged the structure.

The Wanakpalah public school, according to the principal, had an enrollment of over two hundred students prior to it being unroofed.

He said prior to the situation, the school was struggling with the issues of chairs, blackboards, hand pump, administrative offices and limited teachers.

He wants the Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Education and goodwill individuals to assist in the rehabilitation of the school to enable the children get back to classes.

Mr. Jiaway said if nothing is done to speedily intervene, the Wanakpalah youths will have no alternatives but to join their parents in farming activities.
