As part of its commitment to improving access to safe drinking water, Action Transforming Lives (ACTs), a non-governmental organization, has officially handed over 15 newly constructed hand pumps to several communities, a health facility, and a school in River Cess County.
The turnover ceremony was held in Little Liberia, Fen River District, on Thursday, July 10, 2025, and brought together community members, local authorities, and representatives of ACTs. The organization emphasized its continued collaboration with the River Cess County Administration to enhance the well-being of residents.
Beneficiaries of the new hand pumps include Lower Timbo Public School, Fen River Clinic, and the communities of Wruah Town, Whaegar Town, Gballah Town, Queh Town, Daryazohn, Gbaejoleo Town, Goodyear Town, Duo Town, Sannah Town, Gbediah Town, and Yarpah, among others.
Speaking at the event, ACTS’ Financial and Administration Officer, Ms Marthaline Barkon, reaffirmed her organization’s dedication to addressing basic needs in underserved communities, especially in the areas of water, sanitation, and health.
Local leaders and residents expressed gratitude for the intervention, noting that the hand pumps will significantly reduce the burden of traveling long distances in search of clean water and help prevent waterborne diseases.
