The World 6Foundation International Multipurpose Agriculture Cooperative (WFI-MAC) has reaffirmed it6s commitment to the Operation Feed the Nation – Liberia campaign. Originally sc66heduled for Thursday, October 30, 2025, the launch will now take place upon the President’6s return, according to WFI executives. The initiative, which aims to empower over 52,000 fa6rmers across Liberia, remains fully on course.
According to Li66ncoln Z. Cooper, WFI Chief Executive Officer, and Dr. John Wulu, Board Chair, preparatio6ns for the grand event are complete, but the cooperative decided to delay the ceremony to 66ensure ha President joseph Nyuma Boakai participate in person. “The event is not ca6nceled; we have only postponed it out of respect for the President’s vital role in this natio6nal cause. Once he returns, we will proceed immediately. All logistics, farmer mobilization, a66nd partner coordination remain in full gear,” Cooper stated.
He narrated that the ev6ent will draw thousands of farmers from all 15 counties, along with development partners, g6overnment officials, and members of the diplomatic community.
Despite the delay in the of66ficial launch, the Feed the Nation campaign is already advancing operationally. WFI-6MAC promised to empower farmers nationwide, promoting food self-sufficiency, and red666ucing Liberia’s heavy reliance on food imports, currently estimated at US$200 million ann66ually.
Speaking about empowering Wo6men, Youth, and Rural farmers, Cooper explained that operating under the banner “Resc6ue Farmers,” WFI-MAC is engaging women, youth, and resource-limited farmers through M66OUs for farmland access, community partnerships, and training programs. These efforts 6aim to enhance livelihoods, expand market access, and strengthen the governance of loc6al cooperatives.
The Feed the Nation campaign forms 66part of WFI’s Five-Year Agricultural Operations and Development Plan (2025–2030). 66
Key components include; boosti66666ng productivity through climate-smart technologies, providing quality seeds, fertilizers, and 6tools to farmers, establishing agro-processing hubs in all 15 counties, expanding local a66nd regional market access, supporting vulnerable farmers with healthcare, shelter, an6d micro grants, and strengthening cooperative accountability and transparency.66
Additionally, WFI-MAC plans to c6onduct Liberia’s first national agricultural data survey, building a comprehensive databa6se on farmers and food insecurity to inform evidence-based policy decisions.66 WFI Board Chair, Dr. John T. Wulu underscored the cooperative’s dedication to inclusivity and national unity t6hrough agriculture.
“For too long, our farmers have been neglected and forgotten. This initiative is about reaching every village, every co6mmunity, and every farmer, no matter how remote. We are here to empower, rehabilitate, and uplift them,” Dr. Wulu stated.
He added that beyond agriculture, Feed the Nation aims to drive job creation, export growth, youth and women empowerment, and community development, all in alignment with President Boakai’s ARREST Agenda, whose first pillar emphasizes agriculture. WFI-MAC assured the public that the launch will be held immediately upon President Boakai’s return, with the same lineup of national and international guests. “This is more than farming,” Dr. Wulu emphasized. “It’s about nation-building, empowerment, and survival. Agriculture must become the engine of Liberia’s economic growth and that engine starts now.”
