The Deputy Minister for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ibrahim Nyei has disclosed that current and past government officials are in full compliance of the passport regulation.

Speaking on OK FM Morning Show, Dr. Nyei said 31 percent out of 438 diplomatic and service passports have been retrieved.

Deputy Minister Nyei said passport retrieved are currently being printed and will be turned over to those in compliance with the government regulations and directive.

“We are retrieving passports with the duration of two years and it is not restricted to past government officials but to include current and others,” he noted.

Nyei also disclosed that President Joseph Boakai, Foreign Minister, Sara Beysolow Nyanti and other officials have turned in their passports.

According to him, the new regulation passports when issued to those deserving officials, will last for the next two years.

It can be recalled that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs suspended the July 2023 Revised Passport Regulations and reinstated the March 2016 Passport Regulation.

The Ministry said all those bearing diplomatic, official and service passports with the duration of more than 2 years are hereby requested to return them to the Ministry from Tuesday, March 19, 2024 to April 18, 2024.
