The Chairman of the ruling Unity Party (UP), J. Luther Tarpeh, has vowed to submit a list of non-performing ministers and other senior government officials to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for possible dismissal.
In a strong-worded statement, Chairman Tarpeh disclosed that some members in the UP administration are not performing to the expectations of the Liberian people and therefore must give way. Informing President Joseph Nyuma Boakai of his stance, Tarpeh stressed, “We will do the list and submit it to your noble office. We want to see some ministers and other officials replaced immediately. We want to see some directors replaced and the nation must thrive.”
He said that the Unity Party cannot allow non-performing members of its government to be the weak link in the service delivery to the people of Liberia. Chairman Tarpeh, at the same time, called on President Boakai to reshuffle the cabinet, something he noted is long overdue. He said as the government marches majestically toward the end of the first half of its administration, the party wants the president to reshuffle the government for effectiveness.
Commenting on the US$19 million drugs case, Chairman Tarpeh called on the Joint National Security agencies to expedite the investigative process as the Liberian people are tired of waiting for the investigation to be complete. He indicated that any further delay will make the public misconstrue their professional investigative ability, as the citizens are demanding answers now and not later.
Tarpeh emphasized that, “Anyone whose hand is caught in the ‘cookie jar’ must face the full weight of the law. Anyone, no matter the status, no matter the position, and no matter the influence, we are going to lock you up.”
