Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Fitzgerald T. M. Biago, now serving as the Officer In-Charge (OIC) at the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), has assured the public that the agency is committed to tackling drug-related issues.  He emphasized that the top priority of his team is to ensure that Liberia becomes a drug-free country.  Biago made this statement during the regular press briefing at the Ministry of Information in Monrovia on Thursday, September 4, 2025. He highlighted two main focuses of his leadership: integrity and responsibility. Biago believes that integrity is crucial for LDEA officers in fulfilling their duties effectively and in combating drug-related challenges without bias or personal interest. The OIC stated that the actions of drug enforcement officers should never reflect those of narcotic users, as such behavior undermines their effectiveness in carrying out national responsibilities and apprehending drug offenders.

He further elaborated that his administration is dedicated to rebuilding and revitalizing the integrity framework within the agency. He called on relevant government institutions, including the Ministries of Health, Youth and Sports, Commerce, Internal Affairs, and all national security agencies, to collaborate with the LDEA in creating a framework that would help secure the future of Liberian children. Biago firmly stated that his leadership will treat all drug-related cases with impartiality, striving to hold both users and dealers accountable for their actions.
