Liberia’s Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, marked his 55th birthday on Monday, April 7, 2025, with a message that echoed celebration and a call to national responsibility.

Speaking at a modest ceremony held at the Ministry of MFDP, attended by employees, government officials, and close associates, Minister Ngafuan underscored the crucial role the Ministry plays in shaping the country’s future.

“If Liberia would be developed, it depends on the MFDP,” Minister Ngafuan declared. The Minister explained, “We are the engine room for national planning, budgetary alignment, and economic transformation. Without a solid financial framework, national progress will remain a dream.”

Liberia’s MFDP Minister’s birthday celebration, though private in tone, carried a sense of duty as the Minister used the occasion to reflect on Liberia’s economic challenges and the efforts being made to stabilize and grow the economy. He emphasized the importance of transparency, fiscal discipline, and innovation in managing the country’s finances.

Minister Ngafuan, who was reappointed to the Ministry under the current administration, has been a central figure in discussions around public financial management and international economic cooperation.  His birthday message also touched on youth empowerment and the need to channel more resources into education, healthcare, infrastructure and electricity.

“Every Liberian deserves the benefits of a well-managed economy. And we at the Ministry are committed to making that a reality,” he said The event climaxed with speeches, gift presentations, brief toast, cake-cutting, and dining. Several well-wishers described the Minister as a “dedicated public servant” and “a man committed to national transformation.”

As the country continues to face economic headwinds, Minister Ngafuan’s remarks serve as a reminder of the weighty expectations placed on Liberia’s financial institutions and the central role, they play in building a prosperous future.
