National Tourism Bill Passed

Members of the House of Representative on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, unanimously passed a bill establishing the National Tourism Authority. The Bill is titled: An Act to Amend Title 30, Public Authorities Laws Liberian Code of Law Revised Establish in Lieu The Liberian National Tourism Authority.

The bill was passed through recommendations contained in a report from the Joint Committee on Information, Broadcast, Culture and Tourism, Judiciary and Internal Affairs. The House Committee on Information and Broadcast conducted a series of public hearings amongst stakeholders and experts in the tourism sector.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Representative Barnard Benson, describes the passage of the law as a breakthrough for the sector in creating job opportunities and contributing to local infrastructure as well as income generation. Meanwhile, The Bill has been forwarded to the Liberian Senate for Concurrence.
