Mixed-Views-Ahead-Of-Boakais-Annual-Message

Liberians have expressed mixed views on President Joseph Boakai’s two years of leadership under the guidance of the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, narrating their experiences of the government’s performance as the president prepares to deliver his third annual address.

‎‎ Political advocate Achie Ponpon told reporters in Monrovia on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, that the president’s performance has surpassed previous governments within his first two years, highlighting the restoration of the country’s international image, stable electricity, and controlled prices of basic commodities as notable achievements.

‎‎Logical Kromah, a self-proclaimed member of the Unity Party government, expressed a different view. While others praised the government’s performance, Kromah criticized the administration for not doing enough to address the needs of its own partisans and Liberians in general. Kromah stated that partisans who worked tirelessly to bring the government to power are feeling neglected because the government has failed to provide adequate jobs or opportunities for its supporters and citizens.

‎‎Robert, commonly known as Political Zlanta, expressed strong disappointment with President Boakai’s administration, calling the past two years a ‘waste.’ He said that the President has nothing meaningful to report to Liberians in the upcoming State of the Nation address, noting that the government has not made significant progress in addressing the country’s pressing issues like the economy, education, and healthcare. “The President’s address will likely be filled with empty promises and rhetoric rather than concrete achievements,” he stated.

‎‎Zlanta expressed frustration over the administration’s failure to meet expectations of Liberians, alleging that it has been more focused on maintaining power than delivering meaningful change. He urged the President to be honest with the people about the challenges facing the country and to provide a clear plan for addressing them, while emphasizing the need for accountability and transparency.

‎The Unity Party-led government, which won the 2023 election on the merit of its ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, is now facing mixed reviews from citizens. While some believe the government has not lived up to its promises, others praise its achievements in restoring stable electricity, controlling rice prices, and improving road accessibility in the southeastern corridor

‎‎As President Boakai prepares to address the nation, Liberians eagerly await his legislative agenda for the year. They hope to hear about the government’s plans to address pressing issues such as unemployment, education, and healthcare, among others.

‎In terms of infrastructure development, citizens expect the President to provide a clear and honest assessment of the country’s progress and challenges. They hope to hear concrete plans for addressing the nation’s problems and improving the lives of all Liberians, calling on the government to be accountable to its people and work towards a better future for all. As the President delivers his address, citizens will be watching closely to see if the government is truly committed to its ARREST Agenda for the well-being of the nation.
