The Minister of Mines and Energy, Wilmot Paye has stressed the importance for teamwork at the Ministry.
He spoke on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 during the official takeover and honoring program of his Deputy and Assistant Ministers, who recently passed Senate confirmations.

Minister Paye told staffers that the surest way of achieving his reform agenda at the Mines and Energy Ministry is to bring all hands are on deck that “Everyone is respected” in playing their assigned role (s) given them by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai.

He assured the Deputy and Assistant Ministers that his record of selflessness will be practically demonstrated so as to create a conducive working environment that gives everyone freedom of mind to work for the overall goal of delivering on the mandate of the ministry to generate revenue to meet development priorities.

He further emphasized that as the functions of the various positions are clearly spelt out in the president’s appointment letters, he will oversee a process whereby there is no usurpation of functions.

To make the Ministry vibrant as it ought to be, Minister Paye vowed to be unbending in making sure the various policies are enforced so that mineral or mining companies live up to their responsibilities to avoid tensions from community residents and promote peaceful co-existence.

He called on the Department of Mines to be as robust as required to make sure mining mineral resources in Liberia are one of the best success stories worth emulating by regional and global counterparts.
Touching briefly on the Energy sector, the minister told attendees at the official take-over ceremony of his assistants that under his watch, the needed modalities will be worked out to make energy available and affordable to all Liberians and foreign residents alike, who are the beneficiaries.

He said the plan of the Government of Liberia under the Boakai’s ARREST Agenda is to make Liberia achieve the global standards of green and clean energy which is an engine of growth crucially needed to promote trade and boost economic activities.

The Senate confirmed Deputy Ministers at the Ministry of Mines and Energy include Deputy for Administration, Madam Eudora Blay-Pritchard, Deputy for Planning, Fahnseh Mulbah; Deputy for Energy, Charles Umehai and Deputy Minister for Operations, William Hines.

The confirmed Assistant Ministers, who took office are Cooper Paasewe, Assistant Minister for Administration; Emmanuel Vaye, Assistant Minister for Planning, Oliver Gbegbe, Assistant Minister for Mineral Exploration and Environmental Research; and Carlos Edison Tingban, Assistant Minister for Mines.
