MCC Workers To Protest Against Corruption, Poor Sanitation

A Punch FM report has revealed plans by employees of the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) to stage a protest on today, Monday, September 15, 2025, demanding the resignation of City Mayor John-Charuk Saah Siafa. According to the report, the workers alleged that Mayor Siafa has failed to keep Monrovia clean, pointing to persistent sanitation challenges across the city. They also accused the mayor of corruption practices at City Hall, poor working conditions, and creating a threatening environment for staff.

Organizers say the protest is likely to draw a large number of MCC employees who are frustrated with what they describe as “deteriorating service delivery” under the mayor’s leadership.

In recent months, City Hall has been plagued by reports of financial irregularities. Internal investigations have uncovered payroll discrepancies, with ghost employees and duplicate names appearing on salary records. In addition, fraudulent deposit slips and forged receipts were allegedly used to divert funds, prompting the suspension of several MCC officials. Allegations of forgery, procurement irregularities, and misuse of authority have also surfaced, further fueling discontent among workers.
