The Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC) says it is gearing up to train over 30 students from five higher learning institutions to be enrolled into an internship program.
According to Managing Director Mohammed Ali, the students will spend three months at the entity on intensive job training in technical disciplines including electrical, mechanical and civil engineering, as well as environmental science and plumbing.
According to him, most of the students recruited for the program are prospective graduates of the University of Liberia, William V.S. Tubman University, Liberia Opportunities Industrialization Center Inc., LOIC, Stella Maris University and the President’s Young Professionals Program.
“They will be under the direct supervision of the Deputy Managing Director for Technical Services, Patrick Sandikie. The students have been placed into various divisions of the corporation based on their areas of study,” he said.
He said the program is simply an indication of the robust reformation agenda of the current management.
The LWSC Managing Director noted that during their time of internship, the students will get to understand the various layers of the entity through best training practices that would enable them to represent their various institutions adequately.
He encouraged the students to do their best, indicating that if their grading depends on what they will do at the LWSC, they have to work hard.
Mr. Ali expressed thanks and appreciation to the institutions for sending their students to be trained as their being around will minimize none revenue water.
For his part, Ahamed K. Sheriff, a representative of the students thanked the management of LWSC for accepting and affording them the privilege to be trained at the institution.
