The National Lottery Authority (NLA) of Liberia has stepped up its efforts to combat unregulated gaming operations in Grand Cape Mount County. Led by Director General Hon. Peter L. Solo, a special enforcement team conducted a series of successful raids on illegal gaming operators engaged in unauthorized mini slot machine activities across the county.

According to a release dated November 10, 2026, the raids resulted in the seizure and shutdown of several unlicensed mini slot operations that were operating outside the Authority’s regulatory framework. The NLA enforcement team, comprising representatives from the Departments of Monitoring and Evaluation, Inspectorate, Operations, and Licensing, worked closely with local authorities to execute the operation.

NLA’s Inspector General, Alexander Paye-Zarwolo, reaffirmed the Authority’s zero-tolerance stance against illegal gaming activities, emphasizing that these operations undermine the integrity of the national lottery system, deprive the government of lawful revenue, and expose citizens, especially young people, to unregulated gambling risks.

Mr. Zarwolo urged all individuals and businesses currently operating gaming machines, lotto kiosks, or other betting facilities without valid licenses to immediately regularize their status with the Authority. Those found in violation of the National Lottery Act and related regulations will face prosecution in accordance with the law.

He expressed NLA’s appreciation for the cooperation of local leadership and security authorities in Grand Cape Mount County during the exercise, calling on citizens to report any suspected illegal gaming activities through official communication channels. The National Lottery Authority remains committed to protecting the public interest, promoting responsible gaming, and ensuring a fair and transparent gaming environment across Liberia. The Authority will continue to intensify its monitoring and enforcement efforts nationwide, allowing only duly licensed operators to conduct business within the Republic.
