The Liberia National Bar Association (LNBA) has signed a US$211,146 contract with a Liberian contractor, JES Engineering Company, for the completion of the first floor of its headquarters project in lower Margibi County. Speaking Tuesday, October 15, 2024 in Monrovia, Cllr. Sylvester D. Rennie said the contract entered into by the Bar and JES Engineering Company is an eight-month contract in several phases.
The Bar President stated that former LNBA President Cllr. Tiawan Gongloe entered into a contract agreement with another contractor in 2021 for the period of six months; when his (Cllr. Rennie) took over as President of the Bar, he continued the contract with that construction company. Unfortunately, the contractor defaulted for which the Bar had to terminate the contract.
According to him, due to termination of the contract, the LNBA set up a committee to review applications from companies and report to the National Executive Council, and JES Engineering Company met the requirements.
Cllr. Rennie applauded JES for accepting the contract and called on the company to prove herself as a real Liberian company. “We hope that JES will prove us wrong by ensuring that the building is properly placed in a good position as they have promised,” Cllr. Rennie said.
For his part, Joseph S. Dennis, JES Engineering Company General Manager said, “We are grateful to the LNBA for the opportunity to carry out such a project.” Speaking about the company’s motto, reliability and efficiency, Dennis said they will live up to the Bar’s expectation, while looking forward to a successful completion and delivery of the project after the eight months period.
