The Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) extends its profound appreciation and heartfelt commendation to SOMAPAIT for its exceptional partnership and unwavering support toward the institution’s modernization efforts. Through the vision and commitment of Mr. Nigel Manns, Vice President for Global Government Engagement at SOMAPA IT, the LIS has taken a significant leap forward in advancing its technological capacity—specifically in the area of drone operation and surveillance technology, a release dated Monday, November 10, 2025, said.
Following the signing of a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Liberia Immigration Service and SOMAPA IT in Bangkok, Thailand, in December 2024, Mr. Manns has played an instrumental role in transforming words into action. His personal dedication, technical guidance, and continued engagement have been the driving force behind the current one-month intensive practical drone training taking place in Waterfall City, Johannesburg, South Africa.
This milestone achievement follows months of rigorous online studies by LIS officers under the supervision and facilitation of SOMAPA IT, with sole sponsorship by LIS. The LIS leadership proudly recognizes the SOMAPA family—particularly Mr. Nigel Manns—for their steadfast partnership, visionary support, and genuine commitment to capacity building within Liberia’s security sector. His contribution has not only strengthened institutional collaboration but has also directly impacted the professional growth of LIS officers and the overall modernization agenda.
As the LIS continues on its transformation journey, we remain grateful for SOMAPAIT’s partnership and Mr. Manns’s exemplary leadership in fostering innovation, guidance, technology transfer, and international cooperation. The Liberia Immigration Service salutes the SOMAPA family and Mr. Nigel Manns for their extraordinary contribution to national development and border security advancement.
