A high-level Liberian Legislative Delegation has successfully concluded its participation in the Second Forum of Chairpersons of Foreign Affairs Committees of African Parliaments, held in Rabat, the Kingdom of Morocco, from February 20-21, 2025.

The forum, convened under the theme: “Building Sustainable Foundations for Stability and Security in Africa,” brought together legislative leaders from across the African continent to deliberate on key foreign policy and security issues. Discussions centered on fostering regional cooperation, strengthening diplomatic ties, and implementing sustainable policies to ensure long-term peace and stability across Africa.

During the sessions, the Liberian delegation actively engaged in high-level discussions, exchanging ideas on best practices in legislative diplomacy and foreign relations.

The delegation led by Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon emphasized Liberia’s commitment to strengthening regional partnerships and exploring collaborative strategies that promote economic growth, security, and development.

Following the conclusion of the forum, the Liberian delegation embarked on a tour of the Moroccan port city of Tanger. The visit provided first hand insight into Morocco’s advancements in the maritime industry and port operations.

The delegation explored how Morocco has successfully developed its port infrastructure and maritime economy, with a focus on potential opportunities that Liberia can leverage to enhance its own maritime sector.

The visit to Tanger aligns with Liberia’s strategic vision of improving its maritime and port industry, learning from Morocco’s success to enhance trade, investment, and economic diversification.

The Liberian delegation expressed appreciation to the Moroccan government and the organizers of the forum for their hospitality and commitment to fostering African unity and cooperation. The delegation reaffirmed Liberia’s dedication to engaging in continuous dialogue and partnerships that will drive sustainable development across the continent.
