A scene of euphoria among contractors and volunteers of the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) erupted following an announcement by Managing Director Mohammed M. Sherif that volunteers and contractors would be employed. Sherif disclosed that all current contractors and volunteers will be transitioned into permanent employees through a transparent, performance-driven process.

According to him, the transition will follow four key steps, including vetting and verification based on past performance, regularization of employment status, reform of salaries to standard levels, and investment in staff capacity development. Sherif emphasized adherence to professional standards, warning that any staff involved in power theft will face immediate dismissal. Sherif’s announcement was lauded as visionary leadership guiding LEC toward a reliable and sustainable electricity service.
