The Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) Director General Eugene L. Fahngon has disclosed that the state broadcaster will not be used to air militant-related jingles by opposition Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC).

It can be recalled that CDC in a press conference accused LBS Director General Fahngon for blocking the airing of its paid jingle on the state radio after others radio stations accepted it.

The CDC said jingle is intended to inform the public about its upcoming Militant Day program to be aired on several radio stations across the country.

The CDC said it strongly believes that this action is not just a provocation to their party, but an act of waging war on democracy because freedom of the press is a fundamental part of democracy.

But LBS Director Fahngon in a Facebook podcast on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, said the station is not Kings FM or CDC TV for such jingles to be aired.

Fahngon said it was the same CDC militants that brutalized peaceful citizens at the University of Liberia and protesters at American Embassy in Monrovia.

According to him, the state radio will not be a station that will promote militants because they are people who have abused and violated human rights in Liberia.

“In the jingle you can hear Jefferson T. Koijee saying he is a humble servant and militant, a Koijee that is indicted by the American Government for human rights abuses but wants state radio to broadcast a jingle promoting militants,” the LBS boss noted.

Fahngon said LSB under his leadership will make sure that all opposition and ruling parties have the right to air their jingles but will not accept contents promoting militancy.
