A major East African construction firm, J.M.G Construction and General Trading Co. Ltd., has taken a significant step toward potential investment in Grand Bassa County by sending a representative to Liberia on a fact-finding mission. The move follows a recent meeting between Superintendent Karyou Johnson and Mr. Johannes G. Mariam, Managing Director of J.M.G, during the Superintendent’s official visit to Rwanda.
In response to that engagement, J.M.G dispatched Mr. Shaban Mugeni Gahizi to Liberia to explore possible areas of collaboration and development. Mr. Gahizi arrived in the country on October 25, 2025, through the Roberts International Airport, where he was warmly received by Superintendent Johnson.
Mr. Mariam, one of J.M.G’s founders, boasts over 30 years of experience in construction, agriculture, auto dealership, and transportation across East Africa. Established in South Sudan in 2011, J.M.G later expanded to Uganda and Rwanda in 2015. Specializing in roads, bridges, dams, buildings, and real estate projects, the company has also expressed interest in establishing a furniture factory in Grand Bassa County, pending the findings of the ongoing mission.
Local officials have praised the development as a positive sign of growing international confidence in Grand Bassa and a potential boost for investment and job creation in the county.
