The Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives, Thomas Fallah, has set up an ad-hoc committee to probe the management of Bea Mountain Mining Corporation over its violation of a key recommendation from a specialized committee.

Plenary’s decision was triggered by a communication from Montserrado County Electoral District 7 Representative, Emmanuel Dahn.

Representative Dahn said Bea Mountain Company’s Chief Executive Officer along with Senior Management Team should be made to appear before the Honorable Body, to provide justifiable reasons why they should not be held liable for willfully and inexcusably violating the Mineral Development Agreement (MDA) it signed with the Government of Liberia.

“Honorable Speaker, Distinguished Colleagues, being cognizant of the power vested in the Legislature to ensure check and balance in public places and regulate investment performances in Liberia, to wit, that this communication comes to remind Plenary of the aforesaid and seek its approval to invite with immediacy, the Chief Executive Officer and Senior Management Team of Bea Mountain Mining Company (BMMC)”, Rep. Dahn stated.

Those named on the committee members are: Hon. Michael Thomas as Chair, Hon. Taa Wongbe Co-Chair, Hon. Julie Wiah member, Hon. Marie Johnson member, Hon. Sumo Mulbah and Hon. Muka Kamara.
The committee is tasked to investigate and report to Plenary within two weeks.
