The Ministry of Health (MOH), through its Community Revolving Drug Fund (CRDF) and the Office of Financial Management, on Monday, June 23, 2025, conducted a Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop in Ganta, Nimba County, to strengthen health financing and drug sustainability. The training brought together County Health Officers (CHOs) and hospital administrators from across the country.
The workshop focused on deepening participants’ understanding of the CRDF and Cost Sharing schemes to ensure improved access to essential medicines and promote accountability and transparency in health service delivery. Nimba County Health Officer, Dr. Ponnie Robertlee Dolo, welcomed participants to the training and encouraged full engagement throughout the sessions.
Health Minister, Dr. Louise M. Kpoto expressed her gratitude to the organizers, encouraging all participants to do their best and be creative in their work, she further emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability.
Dr. Raphael O. Shamavu, lead for the Community Revolving Drug Fund, provided a comprehensive overview of the training’s purpose. He disclosed that the TOT is designed to build capacity of all County health teams and equipping them with the needed knowledge and tools to effectively manage the CRDF and Cost Sharing models and scale it down to the health facilities in their viral Counties.
Mr. Patrick M. Guzeh, Comptroller of the Ministry of Health, discussed the mechanics and importance of the cost-sharing scheme, he reminded the participants about financial management processes and the accountability mechanisms which will support the sustainability of drug supplies and strengthen public trust in the health system.
Mrs. Louise T. Mapleh, Manager of the Fixed Amount Reimbursement Agreement (FARA), outlined the structure of the facilitator training manual. The modules include Leadership and Governance, Supply Chain Management, Cost Sharing, Financial Management, and Monitoring and Evaluation, key pillars that are essential for the effective implementation of the CRDF and Cost Sharing programs nationwide. She also explained the objectives of the training and the expected outcomes.
