Government Releases Calendar For ‘July 26’ Celebration

The Government of Liberia has released the calendar of events and protocols for the upcoming 178th Independence Day celebration. Speaking on Thursday, July 17, 2025, Information Minister Jerolinmek M. Piah noted that the event will kick off on Friday, July 18, 2025, with a thanksgiving and intercessory prayer at the Unity Foundation Mosque in Fish Market. This will be followed by a sports day at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at noon.

On Sunday, July 20, 2025, at @10:00 a.m., there will be a second Thanksgiving and Intercessory service at Trinity Cathedral Episcopal Church, Broad Street, Monrovia. Then on Monday, July 21, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., there will be a dedication ceremony of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) new Headquarters & State-of-the-Art Laboratory, at the Bright Building on Sekou Toure Avenue, Mamba Point, Monrovia.

Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 2:00 P.M., there will also be the dedication of Bomi County Health Center’s Maternity Ward & Renovation Project in Tubmanburg. Minister Piah revealed that on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, the Government of Liberia will dedicate a modern school in Bong County. The Ministry of Education will spearhead that event. This will be followed by the launch of the Decentralized Passport Services by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bong & Grand Gedeh Counties.

Then, on July 24, 2025, Investiture Ceremonies will be held at Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex, Congo Town, followed by a national youth town hall meeting on Friday, July 25, 2025, at noon. Meanwhile, the Minister revealed that the official Saturday, July 26, 2025, Independence Day program will commence at 6:00 a.m. with the hoisting of the National Flag, followed by the Arrival & Review of Troops by the President Joseph Nyuma Boakai at 7:45; at 8:00 a.m. – Honors of the National Colors, 9:00 a.m. – Military & Paramilitary Parade, 11:00 a.m. – Official Independence Day Ceremony & ECOWAS Recognition, Barclay Training Center & Centennial Memorial Pavilion, Monrovia.  The Independence festivities will climax on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at noon with a Children’s Socialization Day with the President and First Lady, under the auspices of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.
