In a significant boost to education and youth empowerment, the Martin K.N. Kollie Foundation (MKNKF) has awarded L$1 million in scholarships to 17 Liberian students and youth.

The event, held in Monrovia, brought together beneficiaries, foundation staff, and media representatives in a moment of celebration and hope on Wednesday, December 13, 2024.

The scholarship initiative is part of MKNKF’s commitment to fostering a just society with shared prosperity and equal opportunities for all Liberians.

In a proxy, Mr. Martin Kollie, the exiled Liberian activist and founder of the foundation, underscored the importance of education and youth empowerment.

“Growing up in the slum communities of Logan Town, Jallah Town, and Stockton Creek, I understand the crushing challenges faced by vulnerable populations. Despite the storms of life, we want to use our story to inspire hope and show that it is possible to rise above poverty and become agents of positive change,” Kollie said

Mr. Kollie emphasized the foundation’s mission to connect with underprivileged communities, instill belief in dreams, and provide life-changing support.

He said: “We cannot do everything for everyone, but we can do something for someone. Together, we can create a legacy of equal opportunity and shared prosperity.”

According to the foundation, the 17 scholarship recipients represent academic institutions ranging from high schools to some of Liberia’s to universities including AME University, United Methodist University, University of Liberia, and AME Zion University.

This L$1 million scholarship program is a testament to the foundation’s unwavering dedication to uplifting Liberia’s youth and fostering a brighter future for all. By: Sylvester Choloplay
