Fifteen Liberians Bag Master’s Degrees From Chinese Universities

The China-Liberia Bilateral Students Leadership has termed the graduation of fifteen Liberians with master’s degrees in several disciplines from different Chinese universities as a milestone achievement.  The students benefited from the Liberia-China Government’s bilateral scholarship under the China Scholarship Council (CSC), an opportunity given to the people of Liberia through diplomatic ties subsisting between both nations.

The graduates include Chelreo P. Saye-Geh, University of International Business and Economics, Master’s, International Relations; Christine Tomah Findley, East China University of Science and Technology, MSc in Environmental Engineering; Fredee D. Konway, Yunnan University of Finance and Economics, Master in Project Management; Doris Jallah Nyanforh, East China Normal University, Masters in Education Management Leadership and Policy; Clara Zoey Darblo, Beijing Institute of Technology, Masters in Business Administration; and Serina Sokpah, Dalian Polytechnic University, Masters in  Business Administration.

Others are Vashta B. Martin, Beijing Normal University. Masters in Educational Leadership and Policy; Williette Hattie Sherman, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Master of Management specializing in Public Administration; Joseph L Gaye, Central China Normal University, Master of Business Administration; Gwendolyn Beta H’Dahne, Huazhong Agricultural University, Burnice Ashley Williams, Jiangsu University, Masters in Public Administration; and Thomas S. Toe, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics; Masters in Finance amongst others.

A release from the international student group through its Chairman, Mr. Dailay David Konway, used the medium to laud the Minister of Education Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah and the Government of Liberia for the steadfast commitment to advancing education and fostering international partnerships that empower Liberian students.

Chairman Konway said that Minister Jallah’s dedication to creating such ennobling opportunities for academic excellence has been instrumental in ensuring the success of these graduates, who are now poised to contribute meaningfully to Liberia’s development in line with President’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID). The release added that Minister Jallah’s exceptional leadership and unwavering support for the graduates have resulted in Liberian students benefiting higher education abroad, something he termed as gains for the nation and its people.

The student leadership noted that the success stories of the graduates inspire hope and serve as a reminder of the potential that lies within Liberia’s youth when given the right opportunities. In a related development, the bilateral students want Liberia strengthen diplomatic ties with the Chinese government if it must benefit from increased investment opportunities from the Government and people of China.

Chairman Konway thanked the Government of the People’s Republic of China for its generosity and commitment to supporting Liberia’s educational aspirations.  The partnership, Chairman Konway said, exemplifies the spirit of South-South cooperation and mutual development between Liberia and China.

He noted that through Liberia’s diplomatic relations with China, several Liberians are beginning to acquire tertiary education through scholarship opportunities in various disciplines that are beneficial to the progress and rapid growth of Liberia. Chairman Konway further stated that Liberia is also benefiting from infrastructure investments, which include, but are not limited to roads, the construction of government ministries and health facilities, calling for China to be Liberia’s strongest ally.
