The official book launch of “Echoes of War” by Foley D. K. Freeman- A Heart-Wrenching Journey of Resilience and Hope, will occur on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 2:30 p.m., in the University of Liberia Auditorium on Capitol Hill.  The book promises to deliver the raw story of survival, sacrifice, and steadfast dreams, a powerful debut novel by Foley D. K. Freeman that sheds light on the brutal realities of civil war, exile, and the quest for a better future.

From the chaotic streets of Liberia during President Tolbert’s overthrow, through the painful years of displacement in refugee camps, to the unwavering determination to pursue education against all odds, this powerful narrative offers an intimate glimpse into the human spirit’s ability to endure.

At its core, the book asks important questions: What happens when the guns fall silent? Does silence really mean the war is over? Who are the winners, and who are still the victims? Spanning over forty years, Echoes of War aims to answer these questions through the eyes of Jowee Tate—from a thirteen-year-old girl whose world is torn apart by violence, to a thirty-five-year-old woman navigating the long shadow of conflict.

Meet Jowee Tate—the brave daughter of a General whose life is shaped by war and loss, yet her determination to overcome tragedy lights a beacon of hope. Follow her as she faces betrayal, heartbreak, the challenges of single motherhood, and the complexities of returning home to a nation working to heal.

Echoes of War is more than just a story; it is a call to action—a powerful testament to the strength, dignity, and resilience of those who refuse to let war define their destiny.
