The Cultural Attaché to the Embassy of Liberia in the People’s Republic of China, Jon Bricks, has committed to advancing Liberia’s cultural presence on the global stage in order to enhance diplomatic cooperation and increase tourism revenue.
Speaking on Thursday, May 22, 2025, Bricks emphasized that Liberia possesses a rich cultural heritage and an inspiring history that the world is eager to explore. He believes that greater achievements can be made through diplomatic cooperation and cultural relations, which he is dedicated to fostering to boost tourism and investment.
Bricks mentioned that with the necessary support from the Liberian Embassy in Beijing, particularly from the Ambassador, he is optimistic that Liberia’s cultural image will extend beyond its borders, attracting tourists and improving the mobilization of domestic resources.
He shared that they have been engaging in a series of cultural activities with partners, investors, and students in China, all of whom have shown interest in exploring Liberia based on its history and historical tourism sites.
“Liberia has a rich cultural heritage and traditions that the world needs to know,” Bricks stated. “The world is eager to learn about Liberia’s history, which is significant. Promoting Liberian culture is my top priority because my name is rooted in the music and traditional heritage of the country. By showcasing Liberia’s culture internationally, we will attract more investment, cooperation, and resources. The Embassy, in partnership with other cultural organizations, is actively working to strengthen our alliances to protect our traditions.”
The Cultural Attaché remarked that his role aligns with his vision of expanding Liberia’s cultural presence worldwide, describing it as an important mission. According to him, there is always an opportunity to improve and promote Liberian cultural heritage globally because the country is well-known.
“Liberia is recognized for the performance of its cultural heritage and its interactions on the global stage. People are eager to learn more about our traditional languages and local pidgin. We have organized numerous traditional events here, and many have expressed interest in discovering Liberia. Our goal is to promote Liberia’s cultural heritage both here and abroad,” he affirmed.
