The Grand Jury of Grand Cape Mount County has issued indictments against defendants Emmanuel Davis and Enoch Kpayeh for the crimes of Unlicensed Possession of Controlled Drugs and Substances.

According to a press release dated October 28, 2024, the indictment follows a violation of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act of 2023, Section 14.89, which states that individuals commit an offense if they unlawfully possess or purchase controlled substances under categories i, II, III, and IV.

The release said that defendant Emmanuel Davis, aged 41, Liberian, pleaded guilty to the charges, and the court subsequently found him guilty on all counts in the indictment.

Defendant Enoch Kpayeh, aged 20, pleaded not guilty to the crimes thus prompting a trial case. But following deliberations, the Jury returned a majority guilty verdict, convicting Enoch on all charges outlined in the indictment. Consequently, the court sentenced Enoch to twenty years imprisonment in a common jail in Grand Cape Mount County.

The Liberia drug enforcement agency (LDEA) underscores the significance of this case as part of ongoing efforts to enforce the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and protect public health and safety.
